Blooom is designed to achieve sustainable, systemic change.
Agriculture is a complex environment, where only a broad coalition of players can achieve sustainable change.
This is why we act as ecosystem integrators. We develop technology that removes the barriers between smallholders and other market actors, while benefiting all stakeholders and providing incentivizes for them to deliver pro-poor outcomes.

The combination of our technology and last mile Blooom Entrepreneur network makes it convenient, predictable and financially attractive for companies to transact with smallholders.
Our risk assessment and the data we gather and maintain on farms help smallholders access credit and insurance.
Our smart farming engine, combined with access to high quality, sustainable inputs, enables farmers to increase yields sustainably, while mitigating risks.
Our platform makes inputs and logistics not only more accessible, but also more affordable, through aggregating smallholder demand and creating economies of scale.
At the same time, our app gives farmers direct access to buyers, and enables them to sell ahead of time. This helps them get fair prices and minimize food waste, translating into a further increase in profits.
We increase the general business resilience of small farms by providing risk mitigation advice, and by helping smallholders access credit and insurance. This in turn enables them to purchase high quality, sustainable inputs, made accessible and affordable by Blooom.
The use of climate-friendly inputs combined with the sustainable best practice recommendations of our platform improves farms’ yields as well as climate resilience. It also decreases the pesticide residue found on their produce while increasing its nutrient content.
Finally, increased access to markets and logistics, and the optimization of buyers’ supply chains reduce food waste, and ensure that smallholders can not only grow larger volumes of healthy food, but also that their produce reaches urban consumers.
In addition to helping farmers access, afford and use sustainable inputs and implement sustainable best practices, Blooom also recommends crops and crop mixes that restore soil health and increase the retention of soil organic carbon.
Combining detailed digital soil maps with periodic soil testing, our platform enables sustainable soil management with absolute precision. Aggregating our data on weather, soil quality, input use, agricultural practices and yields can also be utilizied to advance the science of climate-smart agriculture.
We provide additional incentives for smallholders to adopt sustainable best pracices by connecting them to organic and fairtrade premium markets.
Lastly, we measure and track carbon offset and emission reduction throughout the entire food value chain.
We reach out directly to women-led rural groups and provide them training with our platform. Our goal is to ensure that the benefits of Blooom are accessible for women, and that communities see women as having equal rights and aptitudes to not only use the platform, but also to manage their farms.
Youth are a key constituency in our model, both because young farmers are generally more receptive to technological solutions, and because on average they are the most likely to possess the drive and the education that is required to join our network as Blooom entrepreneurs.
It is a central part of our mission to make farming attractive for young people again, and help farmers’ children stay on their families’ lands.
Implementing Blooom has a direct impact on the following SDGs:
