Blooom is a fully integrated human-centric tech platform that supports sustainable food supply chains from soil to shelf.

While the real magic happens in our cloud servers, for most users, Blooom looks simply like an intuitive smartphone app.

Our smart farming algorithm operates at an unprecedented depth, enabling smallholders to do precision agriculture on the smallest plot of land, anywhere in the world.

We co-designed our solution with smallholders to address all the challenges that they face (we counted 169), and guarantee that every farmer, literate or illiterate, can take full advantage of our platform.

Blooom gives smallholders access to cutting-edge information, finance and markets, and streamlines the work of cooperatives, companies, suppliers and other stakeholders that interact with them.

Blooom disrupts the conventional food supply chain. It eliminates intermediaries, and enables farmers to get fair prices for their produce by selling directly to local and international markets through the app, while creating new, entrepreneurial jobs in rural communities.

We have a demonstrated impact on the following Sustainable Development Goals

Wherever farmers started to use our platform, agriculture, the environment and rural communities began to blooom together.

Today, we need this more than ever.

A formidable challenge

By 2050, worldwide demand for
food is likely to increase by 70%.

The UN warns that resource-intensive
industrial farming cannot meet that demand.

It is already causing “soil depletion, water scarcity,
high levels of greenhouse gas emissions,” and a loss of biodiversity.
It is currently providing the smaller share of our food supply,
while pushing the entire food system closer to collapse.

At the same time, it is driving people away from the land and
into overcrowded cities, causing severe social and economic stress.

This is why the future of farming needs a solution that lets food production, nature and people blooom together.

A clear solution

Smallholders feed 80% of the developing world

where population is increasing at the fastest pace.

A global overview by the UN concludes that in most developing countries, smallholder production can still be vastly increased, and
if smallholders receive the right support,

global food production can be doubled sustainably in less than a decade. Smallholders can feed the future.

Compared to industrial farming, smallholders also

  • Use fewer natural resources to
  • Grow healthier produce, and
  • Maintain diverse ecosystems that
  • Create a more resilient food system.

All the while, their farms provide livelihoods for over 2.2 billion people.

All the while, their farms provide livelihoods for over 2.2 billion people.

However, most smallholders today are unable to increase their production, and are trapped in a vicious cycle of poverty. They

  • Lack information that could help them grow more efficiently.
  • Lack access to high quality seeds and sustainable inputs.
  • Cannot sell or transport on time, and food often goes to waste.
  • Sell to middlemen, and have to accept unfair prices.

Blooom changes all of this.

Our platform addresses the systemic causes of smallholder poverty, and turns small farms into thriving, sustainable businesses.

Smallholders are the solution to feed the world —

Blooom changes all of this.

Our platform addresses the systemic causes of smallholder poverty, and turns small farms into thriving, sustainable businesses.

Smallholders are the solution to feed the world — and Blooom is the solution for smallholders.

How it works

Blooom gives smallholders access to information, finance, inputs and markets— everything that can help them thrive as independent agro-entrepreneurs.

First, a unique smart farming engine combines soil analysis, climate data, food market forecasts and crop DNA information with traditional, local knowledge and the latest agronomical and ecological research, to let farmers know what is best to grow on their land.

It tells them their expected return on investment for each crop that is available in their area – before they would spend on seeds and other supplies. Once farmers decide what to grow, the platform supports them with timely best practices throughout the growth cycle.

Blooom connects farmers with a marketplace of vetted vendors that offer high quality seeds and other sustainable inputs, and enables many of them to secure loans and insurance for the first time in their lives.

When harvest comes, it provides direct access to domestic markets. As farmers develop standardization, our company also supports them through our export channels and international sales offices.

Illiterate farmers, or those who simply lack a smartphone, are aided by our professionally trained Blooom entrepreneurs. They are trusted members of the community who support farmers with information based on our platform, and serve as their contact points to input vendors and buyers.

The new, direct market connections that we establish disrupt the traditional food supply chain. The platform eliminates intermediaries and connects farmers directly with local and global retailers.

At the same time, it streamlines the work of cooperatives, companies and foundations that work with smallholders, and enables input vendors, micro-lenders and insurers to service
small, secluded farms that had been unreachable before.

On top of this, the assessment that we provide for every farmer
turns previously data-less farmers into data-rich agro-entrepreneurs, measuring social and environmental impact
with unparalleled precision.

Let's blooom together

Blooom is designed to support every stakeholder who adds value
to the food-supply chain. Click below to see how you can benefit.

Are you in the business of sustainable agriculture already? Have you ever thought about how you could improve yields and incomes for the communities that you’re working with, as well as for yourself? If you comply with our professional and ethical standards, we will grant you the right to use our platform and build your own Blooom entrepreneur network. Get in touch to learn more and start the process.

Are you a bank or an insurance company? We are well-aware that despite your best efforts, you cannot provide loans or insurance to farmers who have neither income records, nor any assessment of their farms’ worth. We are filling these holes with reliable data, opening an entirely new market for your business. We are also happy to offer our experience with smallholders to help you create tailored financial services that provide fair and meaningful support for farmers. Contact us for more information.

Are you working with a large number of farmers? Blooom can not only strengthen the sustainability of your supply chains and increase your impact on SDGs, but also makes your job easier and more effective:

  1. It can introduce transparency and traceability to your supply chains. You will be able to see what each of the farmers that you’re working with is doing on any given day.
  2. It can enable you to source the right amount at the right time, reducing food waste and delays.
  3. It can help you introduce consistent standards and practices to farmer management, regardless of the location.

Partnering with us can help you achieve sustainable impact at a low cost, enabling your organization to reach more people with the same budget.

With Blooom, every dollar contributes to permanent, systemic change. Instead of giving temporary relief, we help farmers become independent agro-entrepreneurs. Our work relies on our proprietary three-tier farmer development model. Only Tier I farmers require charitable support. When they graduate to Tier II, their incomes are already sufficient to sustain them on their path to growth, and philanthropic capital is freed up to impact more lives.

We not only offer a low-cost way to create systemic impact, but also the tools to measure it with unprecedented accuracy. Blooom enables charities to track the change that their dollars produce in real-time, down to the level of the individual farmer. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like to learn more.

We not only offer outstanding returns on social and environmental impact, as detailed on the left-hand side in our offer for philanthropies. As a certified B corp, we’ve also created four distinct revenue streams that enable steady growth and a reliable return on investment.

A marginal subscription fee is derived from the users of the platform. We take a commission for transactions carried out in our online input and produce marketplaces, and we also sell advertising space in our app. In addition, the data collected by the platform is valuable for a range of stakeholders in the food ecosystem. We sell risk assessment data to financial institutions, market intelligence to input companies, and production and soil data specifically to producers of sustainable fertilizers. All of these have proven to add up to a compelling return for our investors. Get in touch for more information.

Whether locally or internationally, if you are buying and selling agricultural produce, using the Blooom platform can enable you to source sustainably grown, fresh produce at a competitive price.

With us, you buy directly from farmers. On the one hand, this allows you to get better prices and at the same time leave rural communities better off. On the other hand, this gives you the opportunity to plan your sourcing ahead of time. Our platform helps farmers to schedule their harvests according to your timetable, and provide you with consistently fresh produce.

Because we track the inputs and farming practices that are used on every square-feet of land, when you use Blooom you know exactly what you are buying. We guarantee sustainable methods and healthy food for everyone, and we control for export standards if you’re buying from abroad. Get connected to our farmer network now.

While we never align with any political fraction, we are keen to support every government that seeks to improve the health, environment and economic outlook of rural communities.

Through partnerships with public institutions, we can deploy a low-cost tool to large segments of the population. Our platform is designed to help the rural economy stand on its own feet, allowing initial government support to be gradually phased out, and leave a myriad blooming agro-businesses in its place.

The platform substantially improves food security in both rural and urban areas as well as the sustainability of farming ecosystems. In addition, the tools that we provide for governments increase the quantity, quality and usability of data that is available for objective decision-making for agricultural development. We can aid public institutions in formulating policies that are conducive for economic growth and increased sustainability and health in rural communities. We pro-actively help governments take significant strides towards Sustainable Development Goals. Get in touch to learn more.

After smallholders, perhaps the most important beneficiaries of our platform are consumers, in both developing and developed countries.

Through Blooom, you will be able to access nutrient-rich, healthy produce at more affordable prices. At the same time, the transparency and traceability of our supply chains guarantee that you will contribute not only to environmental sustainability, but also to systemic, positive social change.

Who we are

We are eKutir&Fairtrasa Global, a certified public benefit corporation (B-Corp).
We’ve united two award-winning global social enterprises in order to develop Blooom.
Both of these companies have been widely acclaimed for being pioneers in their respective fields.

eKutir has led the way in developing data-driven, networked technologies to solve complex societal challenges. They are known for their approach of co-designing solutions with secluded and marginalized communities, which has made them effective in addressing intractable issues that other technological solutions had failed at before.

Fairtrasa has created a unique, three-tier model that is successfully transforming subsistence farmers into independent, export-qualified agro-entrepreneurs. The company has turned the typically philanthropic activity of farmer development into a $70 million social business, building a worldwide export network for sustainable smallholder produce along the way.

Together, the two companies have impacted the lives of over a 100,000 farmers in Asia and Latin-America.
We are grateful for the support of the following organizations.
